Congratulations to Preferred Homes of Clarmont, NH who has become "Green", certified under the NAHB Research Center's Green Program.

According to Bryan Huot, Vice President of Preferred Building Systems, TRA's "Green Program" has given our company credit for the great job we are doing. We have been producing EnergyStar rated homes on a regular basis. Now we can show that our assembly practices also incorporate many of the green specifications expected by our customers.

How do modular and manufactured home buyers know their home is truly "green"? How do modular and manufactured home builders know the materials and component they're buying are as "green" as their suppliers claim? How can the components manufacturers and material suppliers gain "Green Verified" status?

Anybody can say they offer a "green" product. They can even have it tested and certified as such. But who reviews the certification to ensure that the product is truly making a green contribution and isn't just another case of "Green Washing" by overstating the "Green Attributes" without actually living up to the expectations of a "Green Standard".
